Best time ever? Tough question, I’ve had a lot of great times, but I’d have to say that spending the day boating and island hopping on a private boat in southern Thailand with my brother takes the cake. It was a magical day even if we both did get severally sun burned.

I prefer Sony though because that cam is a work horse and is virtually unbreakable. The Panasonic has better picture quality but humidity wreaks havoc on it and they break down often on the road.

I have several lenses but regardless of what I’m using, it’s always a VR. That extra image stabilization makes a world of difference for me. If you are new to shooting, trust me and spend the money on a good lens. A quality lens can really make your photos come to life. I learned this the hard way.

Lighting: Alien Bee / Kinoflo / Lowell
I use Alien Bee products almost exclusively when it comes to my photo strobe lights and accessories. For video I use daylight balanced bulbs for my Kinoflo Diva light kit, and sometimes I use Lowell Totas for grunt shooting in smaller places. Always bring extra bulbs and remember to white balance your camera for the lights you are using!

Other tools: Card reader, mini DV head cleaner, white balance cards, lens cleaner, extra batteries, Nikon Speed Light (flash), and Nike wrist (sweat) bands. In hot environments the sweat running down my arms was getting on the cameras and causing problems.
